Our guest house „Sonne“ is one of the oldest hotels in the area. In the year 1781 it is mentioned for the first time. Mr. Friedrich Göhring, the grandfather of today’s owner, acquired the hotel on 19 August 1912. The long family tradition of the „Sonne“ in Lautenbach, which is now being continued by Ilse Göhring-Schwanecke, begins with him.
The kitchen chef and confectioner completed her trainings in well-known houses in Baden-Baden and Bad Herrenalb. In 1977, she passed her master’s examination at the „Hotelfachschule“ in Heidelberg as the first female kitchen master. Her skills and expertise, including in the field of hotel management, has been extended to Leysin.
If you would like to know more about the history of the „Sonne“, please take a look at Eva-Maria Eberles’s book, which portrays our house on pages 136-137 (EM Eberle, Historic Inns: Rastatt and the surrounding area.) Rastatt: Badnerbuch- Verlag, 2008).
